What an interesting year it has been since I last wrote on
this blog. I didn’t stop writing but I wrote on another site for a while and
will continue write there some as well. Over this last year I’ve worked on getting
healthy from the inside out. First, my
awesome primary care doctor figured out why I spent the majority of 2012-2013
sick … my Vitamin D was extremely low. I started taking a Vitamin D supplement
on a daily basis and noticed a huge difference within a month. It has been
amazing. No major infections or illnesses this year. Praise the Lord! My
fibromyalgia and arthritis have even been doing much better as well. I can count
on one hand the flare ups that I have had. My migraines have improved
drastically as well.
In November, I was approached at the doctor’s office where I
was working about blogging about eating healthy on a budget. After a few
discussions we turned it into a 90 day challenge of following our office’s low
carb lifestyle plan. I shared the highs and lows for our entire office (patients included) to see.
Over the course of 3 months I lost 25lbs! I’ve been able to maintain that weight
loss which tells me that this truly is a lifestyle change and not a diet fad. I
still indulge in carbs every now and then but I am much more conscious of what
is going into my mouth. I am going to do an 8 week challenge starting next
Monday for the office and incorporate exercise into my daily routine!
So that was 2013 … now 2014 has proven to an even more
amazing year! By starting the weight loss journey and sharing it in such a
public way it really stretched me and forced me to expose some truly ugly areas
of my life. But through that process I learned more about myself than I could
have imagined and I learned more about who God is and how He sees me as well.
If you would like to read about that journey then feel free to check it out

My 3 closest guy friends have all fallen in love in the last two years to 6 months, become engaged and one married this month. Another is marrying this year and the last one will be
marrying next year. They have all found amazing women to share their lives with and I am blessed to get to do life with them. I am so thankful that no matter where the Lord may lead us all that whenever we are together it's as if time as stood still. I cannot wait to see how God uses them in the days ahead to impact their families and those around them for His glory. All I can think of when I see them is that my babies are growing up!
My verse for 2014 has been Romans 8:28 "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them." This verse has also been my adult life verse since 2006. I had asked the Lord
if I could have this verse for this year as I was turning the big 3-0 (!!) and He
graciously confirmed it through this precious Christmas gift that was given to
me by my Knoxville family.
The Lord has used this verse many times over in the
last 8 years to remind me of His presence in my life and how He truly desires
to work all things (the good, the bad and the ugly) for my good for His ultimate glory. And
oh has He done that! I finally surrendered to His call to take a break from singing back at the
end of March and it was the hardest decision I have ever made. But the Lord has
taken me on a journey that I wouldn't trade for anything in this world. This last month has been such a display of His grace in my life. He
literally dropped an amazing job in my lap (with my own office to decorate!) that will allow me to pursue my
masters in counseling and He has brought a wonderful man in my life – all within
a week of each other.
It has been a whirlwind of a month but one filled with a
sweet peace and contentment that comes from knowing I am exactly where I am
supposed to be ... so friends, here’s to a Happy July as I continue to seek to
find His Joy on the Journey in the
days ahead!
I love you all!
