Right now, I am seriously limited to amount of singing I can do. At least, it's not to the standard I prefer. I rarely sing anymore not even in the car, my favorite venue as it is just me and the Lord. I may belt a phrase now and then but I end up hoarse the next day and throat hates me for it. Ha. So I am not singing in order to keep things calm in the back of my throat but I have songs running through my mind all the time! And the majority comes at night ... I am going to share those songs here whenever they pop up in my heart as a place to "sing" and share them with you. There are two reasons I love singing so much: 1. To give back to the Lord in song what He has given me. 2. To minister to those around me through the lyrics of the song I have been led to sing or that has been given to me. It's all about worshiping the Lord and ministering to others.
I first heard this song when I was probably 10 or 11 years old. My parents had heard Point of Grace sing at the Southern Baptist Convention and brought back a cassette tape for me. Yes, a cassette tape of their project "The Whole Truth". I was hooked immediately. I learned to sing listening to their music. I still sing quite a bit of their music. But this song I have never song. Not sure I can. I remember my mom pointing out the lyrics to me in the minivan one day as we were headed somewhere together as a family. She told me this was her and my dad's prayer for me. I'll admit sometimes I resented this song because there is so much truth to it.
It's my song in the night tonight because I know I have friends out there who are wondering and waiting. Who are heartbroken. Who are trying to stay strong while Satan parades a bevy of counterfeit mates in front of you. I'll be honest ... I don't have a special secret or 10 self help steps to get you to a better place. All I know is above all else "the only love that's true is the love He has for you." I'm a slow learner ... I just now realized tonight while reading those lyrics that line meant the love Jesus Christ has in His heart for me ... not the love or illusive mate He is waiting to bring to me. ☺️ While for some that may not be a satisfying answer, I have to ask how many loves have not only been willing to die for you but actually did so that you could have life?
And to think that's a love you don't have to wait for ...
"The Love He Has For You"
When you're living for the love of
A lifetime
You wonder if the waiting will ever end
And the right from the wrong
That you've guarded so long
Is closer that it's ever been
But sometimes a moment of weakness
Can sacrifice the treasure of time
And cause you to miss the miracle
That God longs for you to find
[Chorus]
There's a love He has for you
There's a heart that He's been saving
There's a joy beyond all measure
That only comes from waiting
There's a love He has for you
It's more than the hope you're holding to
And you will find the only love that's true
Is the love He has for you
When you're torn between today
And tomorrow
And holding out for something you
Cannot see
There's a strength you can find
Knowing in God's own time
You'll discover what He meant to be
'Cause love like the Father intended
Is more than just a state of the heart
So don't give up hope in the holding on
'Cause no matter who you are
[Repeat Chorus]
Hold fast my friends in the here and now but open yourselves up to the love He has for you.
I love you all.
Blessings ...
