Shew ... that's a long & wordy title but it has been on my mind for days now. I ended my subscription to eHarmony today & I'm absolutely thrilled. I said I would give it 3 months & I did. August 4th will be the final day to communicate with my matches.
While there are a lot of wonderful things about eHarmony there is also a downside ... you miss out on "the old fashioned boy meets girl & there is an instant attraction between you two" feeling. For me it's rather impersonal to read someone's profile to decide if they are worth the effort. Call me crazy but sometimes it's fun to discover the common interests you have with someone of the opposite sex or the lack of interest!
So what have I learned from my 3 months on eHarmony besides that I'm old fashioned?
1. I know that the Lord has someone out there for me but I'm not in a rush to meet him like I thought I was ... at least not at the moment I am writing this! ;-)
2. I have many more things to concentrate on than finding him. Besides isn't there something about the man pursuing the woman? George Chapman said, "Man is caught by what he chases."
3. I don't believe it's God's will for me to be on eHarmony or at least it isn't right now.
In other words, I'm going to wait to be chased and live my life for His glory in the meantime!!
To close here is a verse that I find both comforting & disconcerting at the same time ...
"Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”" (John 13:7 NLT) ... my life story ... not now ... someday..
