A False Sense of Community

I realized today that social media has been giving me a false sense of community. For example, I rarely check in with friends throughout the week to see how they are doing because I read about it on Facebook & Twitter. So I have to ask, "Am I really investing into people and friendships or is it all on the surface?" Or on the other end of the spectrum one can feel a greater sense of loneliness when they don't receive a comment on their status or they don't get a "like" ... not even a single "like!!" :) While I enjoy Facebook & Twitter, texting & emails there is still nothing that can compare to a good old fashioned phone call or better yet a face to face conversation .
Just a thought:

"As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend." Proverbs 27:17

Countenance - n: A person's face or facial expression.

It's kind of difficult to view a person's countenance through the lens of Facebook, Twitter, texts & emails (FaceTime & Skype excluded. Ha!).  It may very well be that a change is in order.

I'm not sure how this will translate into my life this week but I'm sure I will find out soon!
I love you all!!

Blessings ...
